We believe in influence over authority. Our instructors teach students with compassion, honesty, and lead by example. We know how to meet you where you are and build you up from there.

Ashley Wilch,  Chief Instructor
3rd Degree Black Belt

Sensei Ashley Wilch is the Chief Instructor behind one of USSD’s most welcoming, family-focused studios, known for structured, age-specific training delivered in a supportive, upbeat environment.

She specializes in children’s development, using martial arts to build confidence, discipline, and real-world life skills that stick.

With a teaching style rooted in consistency and clear expectations, Sensei Ashley helps students feel capable at every stage of their journey—empowering them to carry what they learn beyond the dojo.

Guided by her faith in Christ, she’s passionate about helping every student recognize their strengths, build resilience, and face challenges with a positive, growth-focused mindset.

Dion Schumacher
Sensei

Sensei Dion began training with his son 11 years ago, and together they both earned their black belts through USSD.

He believes strongly in the structure and support of the USSD system, for both students and instructors, and especially enjoys working with kids, helping them grow in skill, confidence, and character on and off the mat.

Jarod Hicks
Sensei

Sensei Jarod has been training in the martial arts since the late 1990s, starting at just 8 years old.

He loves working with students of all ages, guiding them not only through technique but also the “why” behind it—from history to basic anatomy. Originally invited to assist a Saturday class, he quickly got hooked on teaching and never looked back.

Emily Buechler
Sensei

Sensei Emily began training in 2021 and has quickly become a bright presence in the dojo.

She has a special gift for working with kids, combining patience, clarity, and fun in every class. Her energy and enthusiasm are contagious, inspiring students to stay engaged, try their best, and enjoy every step of their martial arts journey.
